exercises

exercisesThis is a classic pilates exercise. Hand scooped down then straight out, hold on to the back of your leg for support, slowly reach back, abs tight, then slowly swing your arm back wards. Do 10 on each side. Make sure to support yourself by holding on.

exercisesToe taps. Back glued to the ground, abs in and lift then tap your toe to the ground. Do 10 on each side.

exercisesLastly my favorite part is the stretch. After each exercise you reward yourself with a stretch in pilates. Pull knee into the chest for about 10 seconds on each leg.

This week went well for me. Of course I had dinner with my family on Saturday night and ate a steak, but it was a small portion. I’m not losing anything yet but I feel good mentally and physically when I exercise. Also I’m making an effort to make healthier choices whereas I didn’t before. I set a goal and I’m sticking to it!

can’t nobody break my stride!

can’t nobody break my stride!

Yesterday I watched Oprah’s life class with Joel Osteen and it was great. Although I feel that I’m always grateful for what I have, I need to do it even more. I need to remember to wake up being thankful. Things can go wrong in a second and mess up your day, but we have the choice to turn it around and still program our brain to be thankful and think positive thoughts. This is especially hard for me because when I get upset my brain runs on and on.

I will say this everyday before I leave my house “today is gonna be the best day no matter what or who tries to stop it because I’m in control of my happiness.”

salmon

The salmon is seasoned with old bay, kosher sea salt, and black pepper. I pan fry it with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.

Couscous

Couscous is super easy to make and it’s healthy. I now buy it raw instead of in the box. It taste bland, but I season it with olive oil, salt and pepper. A half a cup equals 90 calories, but who’s counting:)

A fresh salad is always a winner. I used roman lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocado, grapes salt, and pepper in this one.

And there you have it!

I learned how to make salmon so well from Chef Vakhara over at Indulgent Occasions. We eat it at least once a week in our house.

This week was one of those weeks where everything went wrong and when you go into a panic, (usually the case for me) it turns into a chain reaction.  But, I was proud of myself because I refused to get upset. I made everything work, kept smiling and didn’t make excuses (although I had perfect reason) that would have stopped me from getting the job done. I’m realizing that I work great under pressure. I now tell myself, all things happen for a reason, so just make it work! I’m grateful for my close friends that I can vent to. You always need someone to talk to in the mist of it all.

life is like a strawberry feild

I feel like I’m almost at a place where God has filtered out all the bad seeds in my life and surrounded me with good people that can help me fulfill my purpose. The truth of the matter is, no relationship is perfect. Both parties must have to be willing to accept one another’s flaws and have unconditional love for each other. You have to just let your loved ones be and my mother has taught me that when you know someone’s heart and they have 80% good and 20% bad that’s a winning situation…We all have bad.

Wonder

wonderI wonder why is that the moment someone finds out you’re not knowledgeable about something they take the opportunity to take advantage? Like when you visit another state and the cab driver takes you the long way because he knows you’re visiting so you’ll never notice. I guess it’s the way of the world…it’s crazy!

I use to hate to write, but I’ve been  writing for the past 5 years now and I love it! I’ve learned that there is a certain release that helps me. I’ve been writing down more of my thoughts in my journal because my dream is to write a book. I have so many stories that I want to share. Hopefully my dream will come true.

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Have a great day!

Nude is perfect for fall. One of my favorite colors!
Yellow is also a great color to add to your blacks.
Sweaters are great paired with a fitted skirt and tights.
Lastly don’t forget to pair gold with your darker fall colors for a simple pop!
there is good and then there’s ….evil

there is good and then there’s ….evil

I get lots of e-mails from readers saying that people are just so mean. I can totally relate, but you know what you gotta do with these kind’s of people…smile and they’ll eventually come around because they’ll see that they can’t break you.

If people would just practice a little more kindness and show others just a little more love…the world would be so much better. I love God and I’m not ashamed to say it!! He has done so much for me and my family and I just wanted to thank him today as you should for just waking up to see another day.

I don’t put my religious beliefs upon others although if you chose to come here… I’ll talk about them, I’m defiantly not perfect and I don’t judge anyone on anything that they choose do. I just accept them, pray for them as well as myself because I’m a human and I sin, but when people are deliberately evil towards others, that’s something that I can’t stand and would never be apart of. Who has time to be evil, it takes so much energy? Even if you’re going through something look up to the sky and be thankful for whatever it is you have. The world is so beautiful. Go discover something new…

So how has everyone been doing. I felt horrible yesterday. I ate terrible over the weekend. My little brother was over from college and he loves to eat so I slipped on 3 dinners, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I thought about it afterwards and said to myself, “what can I do to make better choices when going out to dinner.” I spoke with my friend Danni and she instantly put me back in check and said today is a new day, just get back on the wagon so that’s what helped me.

When eating out I will be more mindful of what I order. It’s gonna take some getting use to, but I know I can do it. I did workout 4 days last week so I have to give myself credit for that. That was my week. How did you guys do?

I never thought I’d be saying this, but I’m a little excited that it’s starting to feel like fall. I’m a tropical girl so I love the sun, but as it gets colder it reminds that the holidays are drawing near. I’m looking forward to spending thanksgiving with my family and I can’t wait for Christmas. I’m just taking life however it comes. Rolling with the punches…
