Sometimes we lose sight of this because the weight of life or maybe not taking the time to slow down. In the past eight months my life has been slowly changing for the better. Bad days defiantly come to all of us and it’s mostly bad because of the stories we make up in our head.  Sometimes it’s because I’m too hard on myself or always trying to please others before I please myself. Whatever the case was I didn’t start discovering anything until I started writing in a journal. I’ve been journaling consistently and it wasn’t until I started doing so was when I figured out what the real problem was. The problem was me. The problem was that I didn’t follow my gut about a lot of things. I knew that a (styling) job wasn’t right for me but took it anyway being greedy, I hired some people who gave me a horrible vibe and things turned out bad, I let people take me out of character instead of taking time to sit quite, pray and then respond to their foolishness. I sat quite because it was more comfortable, I didn’t make more videos and stopped writing as much because I was worried about what others would think. Something as simple as writing everyday has helped me discover all of this, or maybe I knew it all along but just couldn’t face it until I saw it written down on that piece of paper. It was a reality check.

After I accepted the problems in my life were all created by me, it kinda made me sad. I beat myself up about it for a while, was down  and felt like I was in a rut. I didn’t put my all into anything and gave the bare minimal. See when we don’t sit and spend time with ourselves we lose sight of who we are which in turn holds us back from being our best self. I can honestly say that I haven’t been my best self.  I finally faced it and knew something was wrong was when everyone left the house I would eat, sleep, work and just be functioning like a robot. That’s no way to live. It gets you by but you aren’t living a fulfilled life when things get like this. I began to pray almost every hour. I kept saying my mantra’s and that’s when I started writing. This has changed my life. I’m not going to say I don’t have bad days still, but writing allows me to get to the root of my problem, learn to accept and face them  confidently with no outside opinions.  I began to have faith knowing I’m exactly where I’m suppose to be at this very moment, even if it’s not so good.

Writing in my journal  has given me the strength to change the things in my life that aren’t fulfilling to ME and my well being.  If I’m not happy I now have the courage to stick up for myself and put myself first. I am important. I will still be kind and do nice things, but it’s ok to take care of you and to just say no especially if it will protect your brain space. I will not compromise my happiness, my space, my time or faith for anyone. No more.

Sorry for rambling. Hope this helped someone. xoxo IMG_9347 IMG_9349 IMG_9353 IMG_9354 IMG_9356 IMG_9362 IMG_9365 IMG_9377 IMG_9382 IMG_9384 IMG_9385 IMG_9386I wore this outfit (here) when I was in Paris last year t this exact time of year (here). Love this look.

Fashion Philosophy : Where I Save and Spend

IMG_7054

I’ve always paid attention to stylish women to see what they’ve saved on or splurged on. It all boils down to preference. I admire someone that can make a Forever 21 piece look like they bought it from Saks. It makes me excited because it inspires me to think outside the box, save money and just rock whatever it is that you like and not care what anyone has to say about it. It’s obvious that I  love fashion and as I’ve grown I’ve learned that sometimes things are just not worth spending your money on.

SPEND : {Bags}

If you see a nice bag, save up if you have to and buy it. I’ve been collecting bags since I was 17, and although I’ve gotten wiser with my choices, the bags I’ve invested were well worth it. They were durable, many times I was able to resell and most of them have gone up in value. Think about it as an investment and a statement piece. Buy the bag!

Save : {Everyday Dresses}

I love dresses and I like to switch it up. Some days I’ll wear the same dress for to days in a row, (guilty) and other days I just want something cute that I can grab, throw some wedges on with and still look stylish. This allows me to run my errand comfortably, stylishly, and still look and feel like it didn’t take much effort.

If you are going somewhere special like a wedding or a bridal shower splurge.

SPEND : {Shoes}

Ok so when I say spend with shoes I mean anything over $100. Shoes are an investment and I have not learned to choose wisely. I use to spend so much money on shoes and it was like why! Before you buy a shoes ask yourself “will I wear it for the next five years”. You also have to have picture multiple outfits to wear them with. Most times when you splurge on a HOT SHOE you can wear them with anything! But still chose wisely.

Save: {accessories}

Although over the years I’ve gotten some nice pieces of jewelry and demanded them pretty much on every special occasion, I say if you have to buy them for yourself (unless its a timeless pair of diamond earrings or a watch that you’ll have forever) save your money. Trends come in and out and that’s one thing that you can always be trendy with. Right now dainty jewels are in. I love a long plunging necklace falling down into your blouse like I here. I also like this one here. It adds an unexpected touch of  sexy-ness. These necklaces are both under $100.

SPEND: {hair}

So ladies I’m adding hair to fashion because lets face it, your hair completes your entire look right? Don’t be cheap with your hair because it shows. Get that trim every 2 months, get deep conditioned every six weeks, get a cellophane, and the right hair if you chose to add some in. This is just essential to making you feel good about yourself and even wanting to put a fabulous look together. It start’s with the head. Take care of your hair.

Save: {Tops}

You will see me with tops from H&M, F21, Target to little boutiques. Tops are ever changing so we don’t want to spend to much money here. You can always throw a new top on with an old skirt or some classic jeans.

SPEND: {Jeans}

Ok If you have to just buy yourself 2 pairs, I beg you to buy a well fitted pair of designer jeans. Trust me it;s so worth it!! You need them! I even bought two pairs of designer jeans when I was pregnant and switched up my tops from here. Buy the jeans (my favorite place to buy jeans here), get them altered to your body (like I did here) and rock them with anything from a blazer to a tank. They will do your body good.

Save : {Sleepwear}

I constantly love switching out the pajamas I wear and lingerie because I like the unexpected. H&M has the cutest sleepwear here. I also love the one’s from here. The ones from here are so sexy, fun and cute and it’s so affordable. It’s my go to spot especially when I’m going on vacation plus they are always having a sale! Once in a while I’ll splurge here and most of the time he’ll be with me that’s why.

SPEND: {A Signature Scent}

Find one or two for every season and stick to it. Here are some of my favorite in my previous post here.

Roasted Vegetables

Roasted Vegetables

IMG_8994I love roasted veggies. I didn’t grow up eating brussels sprouts so I never had them. When I went to Mastro’s Steakhouse  I ordered it and I instantly fell in love. I like to broil mines at 500* for about 20-30 minutes. I also love bell peppers and zucchini. As a combo they all taste great together. I take the brussels sprouts out first and leave the zucchini and peppers on there. Then I take the zucchini out and leave the peppers until they are chard.  The zucchini came from my Aunt Ruth’s garden and it was massive. It was so good. I grilled shrimp with mines. My dream is to have a vegetable garden like she does in my backyard. Dreams do come true so one day. xoxoIMG_8965IMG_8979IMG_8975IMG_8993IMG_8983

Products I always repurchase

products1. Lorabotanica By Balenciaga. Bought this twice. It’s a beautiful summer scent.

2. StriVectin SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate. This stuff makes my skin so soft. When I don’t use it I can tell the difference. This is my 4th bottle. Trust me you’ll love this stuff.

3. Chanel (Giggle- 46). I use to love Nico by Mac. Purples look good on me and this has a purple shear. I love it! Second time I bought this. I pray they don’t discontinue.

4. Bobby Brown Foundation (golden 6 ). I bought this last summer when I went to London. This stuff is the best. Sometimes when I put new products on my face I break out, but this is great for my skin, has light coverage and has sunscreen. Three in one!

5. Degree Motion Sense. As a mom and a working woman on the go constantly I need a deodorant that will not fail me. Although I switch up, this is my go-to for my busy lifestyle.

6. Mint Julep Mask. This is my acne savior! Whenever I have a pimple and I pop it I use peroxide and then immediately add this on top. It dries the pimple and the scab falls off in a day and immediately flattens out.

7. Bobby Brown Bronzer (Deep). This is my second purchase of this incredible bronzer. Bronzers sometimes have a shimmer in them and I don’t want that for my everyday look. This  can be used to contour or all over the face. Either way its incredible because of it’s mat finish.

8. Tea Tree Oil. So if you have a pimple and its new and hard spot treat with this stuff and it will slowly diminish.

9. Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil. I love this stuff and it last a really long time. They sent me this product three years ago and this is my third bottle. I apply a couple drops all over my face after my weekly mask. It keeps my face hydrated and glow-y.

10. Acure Cell Stimulating Mask. I use this stuff once a week. I will alternate depending on the condition of my skin with the mint Julep. This is why it’s important to pay attention to your skin.

11. Enrich Trader Joe’s Sunscreen. Day’s that I’m running out the house I never leave home without throwing some of this stuff on. Don’t forget to add some to your neck.

12. Eve Lom Cleanser Cream. This stuff feels like magic on your face. When I’m going somewhere special I give myself a light mask and wash with this stuff. You skin is left so radiant and soft after.

13. Josie Maran Body Butter. If I could afford to drench my body in this stuff everyday I would! This product leaves your legs so soft and give it a perfect shine. This product is special that’s why I use it when stepping out or when doing photo shoots. It makes your legs look killer in photos. Trust me on this one.

14. Elta MD SkinCare. So it’s no secret that I have acne prone skin. I work very hard to take care of it. That entails of getting facials once a month at my dermatologist. Side note: Did you guys know that insurance will pay for part of your facials. It’s not spa like but it gets the job done. NICE SKIN! My dermatologist said that zinc is great for redness and acne prone skin. So on days when I’m laying out at the beach or pool I use this stuff. It gives a subtle coverage as it is tinted, but I love this stuff.

15. Scott Barnes Body Bling (always sold out, alternative here). This will last you forever. This is my second bottle. I use a dime size with the Josie Maran body butter and you are ready to show off your legs. Always show off your legs. At every age!

16. Mad About You Ultra Shea. I use this on my body every night before I go to bed, hence this probably my seventh bottle since last year this time. This stuff feels and smells heavenly at a great price.

17. Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash. Am I the only one that still uses bar soap. I love dove! So I will alternate between this body wash and the bar soap. It leave my skin feeling clean and soft and it’s great for sensitive skin.

Hope you guys enjoyed my product list. I’m positive you’ll be happy with all of them. Have a great Monday. xoxo

IMG_8593Hey loves. Hope you guys have been having an amazing summer so far. As for me I’ve just been trying to get back in the swing of things and get inspired and do new things. Although I love fashion I’ve been tired of buying new things. Some companies I work with will send me items and I only wear them if I absolute love them . If you’d like to collaborate send me a email so I can check you out. I was thinking of making a video and basing it on some of my old writing and elaborate more on what I was thinking at the time I wrote. Just thinking out loud. I want to affect your heart more than I want you to like my style. Just trying to find something to inspire me and you as well. Have a great day loves…IMG_8592IMG_8606 IMG_8599 IMG_8607 IMG_8608 IMG_8609IMG_8600
