After school favorites

Did you have a favorite place to eat as a kid? You know, the place where you and your friends would go after school or on the weekends to enjoy food, drinks, games and fun? My favorite place to eat was the neighborhood hamburger stand, Master Burger. I would walk (or sometimes RUN) there after school to get the bacon cheese burger (yummmm ). I still visit occasionally…..and smile to myself, as I see it has the same effect on other kids. Speaking of food, I will update you on some of my other favorite eating spots soon.

When I was younger, my family and I would visit Belize a lot. I loved wearing biker shorts and t-shirts. This was an easy, cool fit to wear in the humid heat. I wouldn’t wear that now, but leggings are a great alternative.

Diamond in the Ruff!!!!

Ok, let’s talk about the importance of a good tailor. My tailor has became a good friend to me. I can call her at the last minute if I need her. She is important to me and I trust her with my treasured items. A tailor can take an outfit from “cute” to “made just for you”(tailor made). Take me for example….I have to get almost all of my jeans tailored in at the waist. I also like to put my own touch on some items. So, whether you need that special item taken in or embellished, find a tailor that you know you can trust.  They are like finding a diamond in the ruff!

Daylight savings time starts next week. So, you know what that means!!! The days will be longer. More time to enjoy the wonderful Sunny Southern California weather!!!  Spring is just around the corner and the anticipation of summer is exciting! I’m a beach girl so, the rainy weather is killing me. It hasn’t rained this much in Southern California in a long time. Can’t wait to share some bold summer colors and some of my favorite dresses:) Have a good weekend!!!

Spring Cleaning!!!

I love pink in spring!!! This outfit is a great contrast to an otherwise sleek combination.
I was thinking of going somewhere tropical soon, but my instincts are telling me not to for some reason. The earthquakes have had me shaken up a little. Life is so unpredictable. There has been one in Haiti, Chile, Taiwan and now Turkey. I try not to worry because I have faith in God, but sometimes I let my worries get the best of me. When I feel like this I then pray for protection. Quite time with God always seems to ease my fears.
Amaya packed us the perfect earthquake kit. Did anyone pack supplies in case of an emergency? If not please add that to your to-do list. We should always be prepared if and when disaster strikes.
I had a great weekend and have some great news to share with you soon. See ya next time…

I’m on to you!!

If I had to describe my style I’d say it is very polished. And let me explain what I mean by that. If your nails, toes, eye brows and hair is freshly done you can put anything on and feel good about yourself because you would have created a clean pallet. Try it if you haven’t, then be daring with your fashion choices and watch heads turn.
Spring is only weeks away and I’m trying to resist the urge to go spring shopping. I get inspiration from the leaves on the ground, the fluffy clouds and the stars on a spring night. Belize has the most beautiful stars(I named a star after my Grandma Victoria ). When I was little I would lay on the sand and stare at the stars. I especially love rainbows (GOD in action as my friend would say). This was when life was so much more simple; now people are so spiteful and vindictive that sometimes you can’t trust people around you. We are always ready to retaliate when people betray us or attack us, which is natural a instinct. But when you do that, sometimes you miss the bigger picture and then God can’t use you for His purpose because the devil succeeded in getting you caught up. Hmm.
God leads me, so because of  that I won’t change who I am (being kind ,caring and loving, but not perfect). I might have to follow God’s instructions one day and bless someone or pray for someone(even a stranger) and you can’t do that going around being mean(smile it’s okay). I will keep following my heart… Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and may God keep you:)

Judge Not!!!!

 judge

When you start getting closer to God and gain a better understanding of life, you start to understand people and not to sweat the small stuff!  Only God can judge me so I’m not going to judge anyone else, rather help or pray for them if needed. Sometimes it’s actually us that need prayer and we have to become sensitive to when we are being judgmental for the wrong reasons rather than always pointing the finger at someone else.  There is always room for correction as long as we continue to live on God’s green earth.

I have a big heart just like my mother and I am always befriending others which can be a good and bad thing.  A lot of times, people take your kindness for weakness and it’s all down hill from there.

Tip: IF it’s not your close friends or family that is causing you a problem, DON’T CARE!!! Know who you are and who’s you are. (GOD’S CHILD).

 Keep smiling:)

My Baby girl’s Birthday…

My daughter,  is the best thing that ever happened to me. I love her so much. She is so helpful to me. She is growing up to be a very kind hearted and giving person. She helps me take care of her little sister and she has always truly been a blessing to me. I am proud to say that not only is she a beautiful young lady but her grades are great too. What more can a mother ask for? I am truly fortunate to have her in my life and very proud of her. I know she will get all of her desires this year and for years to come. She wants to go to the Bahamas this summer. She loves to travel and because she is such a great daughter I will try my best to make that happen for her. Amaya is a big dreamer and I encourage that because dreams do come true. I am also glad that she has chosen travel as one of her hobbies. She is my prize possession and of course as her mother I want to always be there to protect her and keep her out of harm’s way. Amaya just know that I love you with all my heart and you are my universe. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!!!!

You gotta live with yourself!

I am fixated on this over the top dress! This is one of my favorites. I just love the detailing in the rounded collar.  It’s not your average dress which makes me feel like it’s one of a kind. I love to find clothing that is unique that you won’t see on every Jane.  And, as I have always said, clothes are suppose to make you feel good even if you don’t which creates an illusion making your outfit 10 times better than it looked on the rack.  This is the same illusion you see when you look in a magazine and see something and immediately want to buy it.  The add becomes hypnotizing to you.  Well that’s what it does to me and this one was calling my name.  “Tanya, buy me. You know I will look good on you. You have just the right shoes for me.” LOL.
This dress would be perfect for a nice lunch date… Hope you have a wonderful and joyous weekend. See ya next week…

Sticking to the plan!

Yesterday was soooooo hot! I had a mommy and me day with Amaya. We went bargain hunting and it was a  success(well for Amaya). These days, I’m trying to stay focused on moving forward in life. I have also been eating a little more healthy too. I’ve been keeping more nutritious snacks around like honey roasted almonds and granola bars so I won’t rely on things like ice cream!!
Remember summer is coming up sooner than we think so let’s get in shape together!!! Have a nice week…Oh, aren’t you happy I didn’t talk you to death today, lol.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

It’s the day to celebrate love. And what a beautiful emotion it is?

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”- 1 Corinthians 13: 6-7

So, I hope everyone has a wonderful valentine’s day.  I’m going to see the color Purple (same color I’m wearing ha ha) and I’m so excited.

Now, what shall I wear? Like I said once before, and I can’t stress this enough, wear what makes you comfortable.  That way, you will look confident regardless of what you choose.

If you are having second thoughts about your Valentine’s Day fit ask a friend, get a second opinion or ask someone in the store that looks stylish. You should definitely purchase something new.  Whether you are married, have a boyfriend or out with the girls, this is the time to make the extra effort and pull out your box of tricks…lol.

I strongly suggest hitting up Fredrick’s of Hollywood , Victoria Secrets or your favorite lingerie spot and surprise him…and don’t forget the heels. Always need to spice it up!!! This one’s for you BABY!

Thanks sweet rags for sending me this beautiful dress. It’s perfect! It look like it cost $1000 but it is only $80. My other half is gonna love it and I feel good in it!  You can purchase anything you see me wear from sweetrags at the online store if it’s still available at www.sweetragsclothing .com. I love this song because it reminds me of my husband in everyway. He plays it for me a lot!

Mixed Feelings…

Do you ever feel like something is bothering you but you can pin point what it is?  Well, that’s how I’m feeling today. I’m having one of those days and it’s raining so the weather matches my mood.  But, there is something cleansing and refreshing about the rain.  Although it slows things down, it causes you to acknowledge where you are in life and to get in touch with how you feel.  Many of us overlook who we are, spending so much time trying to please someone else or be something else other than what God intends for us to be.  We spend so much time rushing around and trying to get everything accomplished on a daily basis…trying to be perfect.  But, the rain causes us to have no choice but to slow it down.

So why am I feeling down?  I have to pinpoint it exactly.  Rainy days are for reflecting.  I will spend some time today doing some reflection on my life and making sure that I am in the place that God wants me to be in.  It’s so easy to get distracted and off track headed in the wrong direction.  It may not be a bad direction but it must be God’s direction.

I have to keep on smiling and try to figure it out. Gotta smile to keep from crying so I’ll stay upbeat, productive, and optimistic.  Although, sometimes, it is okay to cry because just like the rain, crying cleanses the soul and causes growth and it’s perfectly normal and sometimes necessary…And best of all, after the rain there will be a rainbow and most definitely there will be sunshine.  “Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning”!

To complement the weather and my rainy mood, I decided to dress comfortable but of course with major style. This is an easy go-to sweater and the color pops. Hope you all are having a good day!

That’s my Word…

This is my new favorite top! The only thing is it’s one of those shirts where it looks so fresh and brand new when you first buy it. It was only $15 and I wish I had bought like five of them so I could have a brand new one every time. It’s cotton so it wears down fast but the material is so soft and comfortable. I love it. To take better care of this shirt I recommend handwashing it in cold water and hanging it to dry. Then, when its almost dry, toss it in the dryer. A little extra love and care is worth perserving this majormusthave.

Gonna leave you with a love letter
Love Letters of Great Men:”You are suffering, my dearest creature – only now have I learned that letters must be posted very early in the morning
on Mondays to Thursdays – the only days on which the mail-coach goes from here to K. – You are suffering – Ah, wherever I am, there you are also – I will arrange it with you and me that I can live with you. What a life!!! thus!!! without you – pursued by the goodness of mankind hither and thither – which I as little want to deserve as I deserve it – Humility of man towards man – it pains me – and when I consider myself in relation to the universe, what am I and what is He – whom we call the greatest – and yet – herein lies the divine in man – I weep when I reflect that you will probably not receive the first report from me until Saturday – Much as you love me – I love you more – But do not ever conceal yourself from me – good night – As I am taking the baths I must go to bed – Oh God – so near! so far! Is not our love truly a heavenly structure, and also as firm as the vault of heaven?”       Beethoven

I just received some major news so stay tuned til next time to find out what’s brewing at majormusthaves!

P.S I miss ya B.F

Back to Business…

So yesterday was pretty cool day. I got to sleep in for the first Sunday in the past year and it felt pretty good. Sometimes there is no rest for the weary, lol.  But, now that I am a bit rejuvenated I am ready to get down to business.  And when you roll with me, you have to know, business means all things in truth and in love.

First things first. I wanted to ask a hypothetical question to get your brain going today: What would you do if you couldn’t speak to the love of your life for two months? How would you cope?  If you had no communication, how would you feel? I’d be sad, mad, devastated, lonely, and worried.  I’d also try to stay busy.  No questions, just answers.
Now, speaking of getting down to business and moving right along, a blazer, is one item I recommend everyone invest in. This is one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe.  They have them practically everywhere and if you don’t have one, I recommend this item as one of your staples.  Staples are the basic items to keep in your wardrobe that can be used for many different purposes and occasions. Today, I wore it kind of trendy because that’s how I was feeling but added the classics to give it a little balance.

I just want to say thank you again to all of my friends out there.  Thank you for your beautiful comments and encouragment. Until next times major must haves…:)

Girl POWER…??.

Soooo, I always wonder why it’s that certain someone that always hates me before I can even open my mouth. Or, the person that knows me, knows I’m a good person and still hates on me.

I would hate to give myself so much credit as to think that anyone would take time out of their day to focus on hating me but the truth is it happens a lot. My grandmother had Haters. We all do. Why?!!! Maybe I inherited the haters, lol. I guess it means I’m doing something right.

What happened to women sticking together? It’s bad enough we have to deal with our men because lets face it no relationship is perfect. And now we have to deal with women looking down on other women for no good reason.

I’m happy, so be happy for me. If you don’t like my site, MS.GRINCH, don’t visit. I’ll be okay with or without.  What happened to girl power…? Come on ladies let’s stick together and show each other some love…..

Or, you can continue to hate on others to cover up and hide your own insecurities which shouldn’t be the case.  Like I said before, we are all perfect in God’s sight. Instead of hating on me…celebrate you, boo.;)

Gift and a Curse

Faith not Fear

fearToday I got some bad news but in the long run it will pay off. Went to church today and the message I came back with was, Faith not Fear. I have no fear of what tomorrow will bring; all I know is that God is in control. I am so greatful that I have friends that I can inspire. So that means, I’m an example and need to stay on the positive route. I love you all and may God keep you…

Can you stand the rain…

No matter what the circumstances are I’ll always have my girls(we love you too daddy). Simple things like playing in the rain and jumping in puddles is what makes our day. It’s the simple things in life we forget. Hope everyone has a great week.:)
